Zivilisation als Technikgeschichte der menschlichen Naturaneignung ist ein Aspekt, der seit der Erfindung der Fotografie unnachahmlich dokumentierbar wurde. Aus den Anfängen der Fotografie sind unter anderem Bilder der Holzfäller in den Gebieten der heutigen Redwood-Nationalparks überliefert. Sie wurden für die Serie „Grizzlies“ mit dem technischen Verfahren des ‚Print on Print’ als ‚historische Schicht’ für den wiederkehrenden Blick auf die Mammutbäume dieser Erde hineinprojiziert.
Civilisation, as the technological story of humankind’s appropriation of nature, is an aspect that has become inimitably documentable since the invention of photography. Among other legacies, images of lumberjacks in the regions of today’s Redwood National Park have been handed down from photography’s earliest days. They were projected into the series “Grizzlies” using the technical process of ‘print on print’, as a ‘historical stratum’ for the recurring look at the sequoias of this Earth.
